Hi guys.

Yesterday, I did a fresh install of BES 4.0.4 on a dedicated machine, fresh build there, too.

Install of BES went great. I set myself up as the first user. Worked great. I sent and received email, contacts synced, etc.

Later in the evening, I found that I could not sync a new calendar item from the handheld back to Exchange.

Well, yes, BESAdmin was an elevated user. I thought I backed it down to where it needs to be but now when I try to edit my user entry in Blackberry Manager, I get an 'Unable to open ...' message.

What did I miss ?

It sounds like permissions for the BESAdmin account on the Exchange Server, or MAPI/CDO mismatch between the BES and Exhcnage.

It was. I can do everything with the exception of sending mail.

I get a red "X" and the message: "Unlisted Message Error" is it's someone outside the address book and "Unable to look up the user info in database" when it's someone in the GAL.

Any thing I can do ?

I tried the 14 step fix ... no go.

I'll still throw the darts.

I'm a (the) domain admin. Looks like I need to run the dsacls fix.

I ran this, with the bold/italics replaced and it didn't work.

dsacls "cn=AdminSDHolder,cn=system,dc=domain,dc=com" /G "netbiosdomain\besadminuser:CA;Send As"

Is there something else I need to adjust ?

There was a windows update that caused email to not be able to send. You had to go in and give the besadmin accoutn permissions on those users AD accounts.

I explicitly added the BESadmin account to my AD account, no luck.

are you logged in as the BES admin?

was the BES installed as the BES admin?

if you are receiving the unlisted message error you are probibly suffering from the microsoft security update but calendar shoulod still work.

if you are a domain admin and even if you did grant the send as permission for BES admin the domian admin wont be able to send email because hes part of a protected account
