Default How do I do wired address book sync for user?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a device I'm currently doing enterprise activation for. The user has crazy amount of address book items in his outlook, so I turned off the address book reconciliation during the wireless enterprise activation. The activation completed, and Calendar and messages (though messages after few hours) are syncing now. I turned on the address book reconciliation, and in the logs, I see messages such as GetPIMItem - attempting to resolve email address ........ so I think its trying to resolve and push the address book items to the device. However, its taking forever, and I do not see any items in the device's address book, and and it seems the email delivery has stopped during this process.

I created a new mail profile on my pc with the users outlook profile, and have connected the desktop manager to that profile. And then I do PIM sync, however, doesn't seem to download any address book items. How do I do wired address book sync?

Thanks.

We will have to delete the desktop sync service book from the handheld if you want to do a wired sync. Since the Sync is handheld by the BES the DTM will not allow you to do it. This information is stored in the Desktop [SYNC] service book. YOu can always backup the service books, and then delete it and then restore them, also.

did you have the "Synchronize PIM" box checked?
leave the BB conencted to the wire for awhile. sometimes syncs on my stuff can take as long as 10 minutes. OTA would take even longer.

It seems that I have to disable wireless address book sync in order to try wired sync... the thing is the wireless sync has been going on for a while, and I don't want to stop it, and then have wired sync not work, and have to start from scratch again the wireless sync. According to the log, the user has over 3000 records in the address book. I just wish I could tell which record it is looking up right now so I can kind of gauge how long it will take...

on a side note, what is the deal with RIM T-support wait times? I haven't been able to get through for like 2 days now cause the wait is too long, and I can't just sit here and wait for hours for them to pick up...

well first of all, if email flow is not working properly then wireless syncing of the address book will not work.

and deleted the desktop sync service book is too much, you just need to make sure that the wireless sync option is set to "no" on the BB and then sync wired.

the wired sync should always work so dont worry about it not working.

and if it doesnt work its not related to the issues with wireless syncing.

and btw agian dont bother to do anything if email mail flow is not working.
