Default Remote Desktop Manager MAPI profile

Please Login to Remove!

I am testing the use of Remote Desktop Manager installation on 4.1 to allow some of the tech support personnel access to the BES server from their desktop, giving them limited roles.

After I install the Desktop Manager, it asks for the MAPI profile to use to connect to the database. Do I still use the BES Admin account for the MAPI profile for the remote destkop manager?

I am sure you mean Remote Blackberry Manger not Desktop Manger

Once you have assigned the Role to a User ,the user should use their own credentials.Using BESAdmin you still have the dbOwner rights to the BESMgmt database, you are GOD

Role Based Administration Sections in the Administration Guide gets into details on this: its a good read, you are encouraged to read that, actually this is the major advantage of using 4.1 over 4.0

Yes I meant Remote Blackberry Manager

I've read the document and it outlines the roles and their permissions, but not on how to install/setup the Remote Blackberry Manager. Under the section Remote Blackberry Manager, I think it said something like, "Start the installation, follow directions on-screen".

Yeah what you said makes sense to me, but isn't the blackberry MAPI settings used to pull information about user's mailbox and etc? I don't think the user that logs into this remote machine would have that kind of permissions on exchange. Also, multiple users might sign into this remote machine at various times, so would they then have to go in and change the Blackberry Manager MAPI profile everytime they open up the Blackberry Manager?

Log on the System as the Service Account
Install Blackberry Manager
Use Windows Auth

Launch BB Manager-

Log off - Log Back on as a different user ,who has been assigned a "Administration Role"
You will be asked to create a MAPI profile when opening BB Manager

It should work as intended, post if you run into any probems
