We are migrating from Exchange 2000 to 2003. We are running BES 3.6 on a separate machine. What are the steps we need to take for BES to recognize the new box? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

When you move mailboxes from 2000 to 2003 you need to do 2 thngs for sure>

1)Before moving any mailboxes to 2003,upgrade Exchange System Manger on the BES to Exchange 2003 version-match the exact SPs

If you using 4.0 make sure if you apply SP-2 to Exchange 2003 you have BES 4.0 SP-4 atleast ,go to SP-5a recommended

2)Run HandheldCleanup -u command (the exe is found in the utility folder)

Hopefully all should go smoothly

Added Later: Forgot to mention to give the Service Account permissions on the new Exchange
Send As,Receive As,Admin Info Store
Asssuming that the Administrative Store inherits the 'View Only Admin " already,since its the same Exchange Org

I'm wondering the same thing actually. I've got the same setup. Exchange 2003 on one server, BES 3.6 on another. I've already upgraded Exchange Server too. I found this article at the Knowledge base, it refers to a more current version of BES, but is this the way to upgrade with 3.6 too? Article Number: KB-05034 at Blackberry.com

Yes the KB accurate , in what you need to do.i.e applied to 3.6 too
While it mentions rebooting the servers after moving users,handheldcleanup does the job ,since you may not be moving all the users at the same time ,risking multi boots.

handheldcleanup work for mailbox moves from one server to other
rebooting the server is required if mailbox is moved from one store to another on the same server

Yes, it works great too. Even though we upgraded to Exchange 2003 before hand, using this documentation got everything back up and running.
