Default BES IT Policy - "Hide Sent Items"

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

Now that BB OS 4.1 includes support for hiding sent items from the Inbox, does BES 4.1 include support for setting this option via an IT Policy? I have a lot of users that want this done so I'd like to enable it via policy. I have BES 4.0 and don't have the policy option, so I was hoping 4.1 might include it.

Thanks in advance.

Default Follow-on

Hello Again,

As a follow on question, if BES 4.1 supports hiding sent items via IT Policy, will the handhelds have to be running BB OS 4.1 in order for the policy to apply and take effect?

since jibi gave the short answer, i'll give the long one

Yes it can be set in IT policy. yes the handhelds have to be running 4.1. It's a handheld setting, not a bes setting.

Thanks for the additional detail. I looked through the policy settings spreadsheet but don't see an option related to hiding sent items. Can you tell me which specific policy setting is the one I need?

Thanks again...

Smile BES IT Policy

Speaking of BES IT Policy, can anyone bypass or prevent a Policy to be pushed down to user's handheld? Is this even doable from the handheld? If yes, how does one go about it?

Thanks in advance!

I don't believe you can do what you want via policy. Hiding sent messages is a setting that must be set on the individual handheld. You can disable Sent folder reconciliation from the server, but then they will not have any sent mail on the handheld (unless sent from the handheld).

Can you prevent it? No.
Can you clear it. Yes, search for 'remove IT policy for instruction.

Looks like I am wrong. I wasn't sure. Most items (even if it's a handheld setting) can be changed with the IT policy, but no way to "en mass" set the "hide sent messages" flag.

Wonder if you could do it with a user defined IT policy item? But that's just a leetle over my head.

No, its not avoidable.
Yes it can be removed. You need to security wipe the handheld, and activate to another BES which will push down an IT POlicy with no restrictions.

Keep in mind that once activated to BES, there are some default settings that will restrict the handheld from features even if the default IT Policy was sent to the handheld. I.E. Bluetooth serial by-pass connectivity.
