Default Blackberry Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Upon installing the Blackberry Manager on a remote machine, upon launching the Blackberry Manager, the tech is prompted with a Windows "connect to" logon prompt. It shows the mail server, however the BESadmin account is the credential. Once I get past that step, the Blackberry Manager is happy and the tech has their administrative role as assigned in role administration. For my database authentication, I choose Windows authentication. Any idea how to get around this logon prompt? Can't the Blackberry Manager simply launch and base its authentication on its role based administration?

If I'm reading this correctly you are getting prompted for your SQL Login credentials when BB Manager starts, even though you set the database to use windows authentication?

If this is the case then I have had the same issue.

When I deleted the folder below from the registry BB Manager started up w/out the prompt.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER-->Software-->Research In Motion-->BlackBerry Enterprise Server-->Management-->Database

Default Blackberry Manager

Interesting, if I escape out of the windows authentication prompt, I go into Blackberry Manager with the user's assigned role. However, prior to getting into Blackberry Manager, I get "Failed to open default message store using the mapi profile "blackkberry manager". Please review the log for details. You will not be able to send messages from B;ackberry Manager by email".

Any suggestions?

right, You need to use the mapi account of the person that has been delegated the control. NOT the Besadmin account. That really defeats the purpose to give just anyone the Besadmin cred and pass.

Default Windows login prompt for BES Admin

One of our admins is getting the same thing. We're set to use Windows (Trusted) authentication, not SQL Authentication. Comes up with a login prompt for the exchange server. Once we get past that, he gets cannot connect to database. BES 4.0.5, MSDE database, MS Exchange 2003 SP2. Any ideas why this would be happening? Oher admins are working fine.

According to RIM, the MAPI profile needs to be BES Admin account. This is how I have it setup, and this does not mean anyone who starts the Blackberry Manager has the admin credentials. It uses this profile only to connect to exchange, and has nothing to do with credentials given within the Blackberry Manager. The credentials are given according to the user account that starts the Blackberry Manager and that accounts database permissions for the BES database.
