Came across a 100 CAL pack from RIM (have it in my hand) that states the following:

One hundred (100) Client Access Licenses (Host)
The software key listed below provides restricted ability to add 100 (one hundred) Client Access Licenses for use with your licensed copy of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software. The software license key will expire 365 days after being added to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Then below it has the key. (see attached file for a scan of the document)

Questions:

1. How can this key expire? I have called RIM and their technical support says CAL keys cannot expire.

2. Is it safe to assume that if I use this, the BlackBerry's won't fall off the BES 365 days from now?

Any thoughts?

The license doesn't expire, however your ability to get to that electronic copy of the CAL will probably expire.

Temp CALs can expire, call RIM again.

That key is for the Hosted BES product, the CALs expire after a year because it is purchased one year at a time.
