Default BES, Outlook Rules

Please Login to Remove!

We have a user who is partial to having a rule in Outlook which files emails if they arrive from a particular sender, they file them in a sub-folder of their inbox.

These emails are not received on their blackberry, presumably because the rule kicks in and files them prior to BES detecting they have arrived and forwarding them on?

What can we do about this ? (No abuse about the user's preference please!)

Youo just have to set the subfolders to redirect, on 4.1 this is done on the console(Service Access->choose folders for redirection) on 3.6 its done on the desktop software.

Hi,

Thanks for responding, I have verson 4.0 for Exchange and have opened the Blackberry manager and clicked the properties of the user and selected the Re-direction tab.

The default settings for re-direction are the left radio button which selects the 'inbox and sent items' to be re-directed, can you tell me if this option also re-directs the sub-folders, or do I have to choose the right radio button (selected folders) and manually tick every sub-folder? This user has quite a lot of sub folders.

I also have another question along the same lines. The same user has renamed a sub-folder, This was renamed on Outlook, but the folder name has not changed on the Blackberry handset when viewing the folders.

It is causing a problem as one of the rules in Outlook put certain mail that arrive directly to that folder. This works fine in Outlook, but on the Blackberry device the the mail isnt even delivered to the inbox.

Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Wait for the folder to reconcile over or you can force it by going to messages--> options --> email reconciliation, turn it off, save, turn it back on.

The user can select their own folders from messages --> options --> email settings --> CLICK THE TRACKWHEEL --> select folder redirection from the menu.

The above is true, the user can select which folders they want to enable from the handheld (folder redirection).

However, the emails which are redirected in Outlook by the use of rules are displayed on the blackberry message list and also in the subfolder on the bb (options>view folder).

If the user deletes this email from the message list it will be removed from the subfolder in on the BB and in Outlook(subfolder).

The obvious way around this is to change the settings on the blackberry: 'delete on' option to 'handheld' only. But i believe the delete on 'mailbox and handheld' option is more useful and more used.

So i'm not sure of any ways to overcome this yet.... any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

Is there a way to set a new default for folder redirection for all users, rather than manually for each user? I am bringing up a new BES 4.1 and want the default set to redirect Inbox folder only for those users that will be added.

Thanks in advance!
