Default BES 4.1 SP1 and SQL Instance

Please Login to Remove!

Just a fyi for everyone using SQL with a instance name.

Those of you using this probably have read KB-050008 about modifying the rimpublic.property file to add the parameter:

Database.ServerName=<host_name>\\\\<instance_name>

Well, if you install BES 4.1 SP1 (I'm running Domino) MDS and Collaboration services will break and complain that it cannot connect to the SQL DB. You need to modify the rimpublic.property file to use:

Database.ServerName=<host_name>\\<instance_name>

Not ven RIM tech support know about this. I did SP1 on 8/12 and ran into the problem and tech support knew nothing about the issue. Their response was "Service Pack 1 is new so we have no known issue or article for it." I figured out the problem while they had me on hold and provide them with the cause and solution.
