Default Activating Trial-Version of BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi NG.

Yesterday our BES' trial version expired and I reactived it to a full registered version.

What is the procedure to update a trial version of the BES to a full registered version?

The following two steps were told to me:
1) Stop any BB service on the BES server, enter the new SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key and restart the services again.
2) Now I have to set the BB devices. On each device I should do in security settings 'delete handheld' and afterwards reactivate the device again.
I was told that by this the service books on the device will be linked to the new SRP identifier.

I'm in doubt that the second step is necessary.
The disadvantage of this step is clear. The device will show messages only from the point of reactivation (except for stored ones) and individual pictures and ringtones (mp3) will be deleted as well. (I did this procedure with my own BB for testing. I want to avoid the erasure for our other devices if it isn't necessary.)

But I recognized, after I completed the first step the devices updated themselves again.

Can anyone give me hint what to do?

If you enter a new SRP ID on to a BES 4.0 or above it should send out new service books to all its devices.

As long as the device is 4.0 or above it should accept the new service book and carry on working as normal.

The only trouble is that it can sometimes take a while for the new servie books to be received and accepted on the devices. Have seen this take up to 24 hours before.

Who told you to remove and readd users?

Go check the product version of BBdispatcher.exe, right-click properties, version tab, select product version. If is says eval version follow the following steps:

Livelink - Redirection

If it is not an eval version just drop the new SRP in and the new CALs (you may need to drop the old ones see above) Then restart your services to make sure it works.
