Exclamation existing bb user, had device replaced by cingular

Please Login to Remove!

Hi.
i have found info on how to reissue a device, but what if someone had the device changed by the vendor here cingular. the sim card is the same but this one wants to activate because it has a diff pin. is there an easy way to fix this on the server or does the user need to be deleted and re-added?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The device just needs to be activated. Set the new password, alert the user what the password is, have them go through the Enterprise Activation. Pretty painless, really...

Good luck!
Rob

No - you just need to browse to the user, set a new activation password - - don't remove them or anything like that.

What version of BES are you running?

Ok, so through the BlackBerry Manager, just find the user in question. Click on the name, in the lower right-hand pane, expand 'Service Access.'

Click 'Set Activation Password' - set the password and select your options, you should be gold.

Hope this helps - and I would recommend looking at the administration documents under the 'docs' folder on the installation media (these can be downloaded from RIM's site as well).

Sounds to me like it hasn't fully activated yet.

Typically activation takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes, depending on how much previous data he had to synchronize. If he had a LOT of contacts, it can take longer possibly.

Did your user get an 'activation complete' dialog on their device?

Also, you could have the user delete and undelete the 'desktop [sync]' service book, which can be done via options> 'service book' (or options> advanced options'> 'service book' (they just click the scroll-wheel and delete/undelete).

This sometimes helps my trouble users...
