Default Emergency call feature.

"Sometimes" my users (while on the road) manage to forget their Blackberry passwords and more then once I cannot send them the OTA password due to the wireless radio turned off. The trick to get the radio working on a locked devcie is to use the "Emergency Call" feature. Does anybody know if it actually dials 911 (in North America) or does it turn on the radio and then allows the user to place the call? I'm to chicken to try it as I don't want any mad 911 operators telling me that I'm abusing the service. Does anybody know?

I'm not chicken

I just turned off the radio and then locked my 7100i. I then did the Emergency Call and it went into the phone, waited while the radio turned on, and then initiated the call (which I immediately cancelled). Then the radio stayed on (but still locked).

It actually dials the correct emergency code based on the network detected (911, 112) whatever.

Default Emergency Call

Does anyone know how to turn this off? My 7100i shows, "Unlock," "Emergency Call," & " Cancel" when it's locked. I knew this was going to happen eventually and sure enough, it did. I accidentally hit Emergency Call.

You can't turn that off, I believe it is required by US law now.
