Is there any major differences between 4.0, and 4.1? I am wanting to send my troops to the formal training, but do not know if our 4.1 is majorly different than 4.0, or if it would be worth it.

In terms of training I would recommend that you send your troops to the correct BES version training.

Although 4.1 builds on 4.0 features they are different enough to warrant dedicated training on the correct version.

The differences of 4.0 and 4.1 are worth sending for training. The MMC is completely different in look and feel, and there are a lot of new items to consider with 4.1.
