Default Remote Activation?

BES 4.0. Is there a way I can perform enterprise activation for handheld users without them doing it? Or can it only be done from the handheld? Thanks!

For a completely wireless activation it must be done from the handheld itself. You could also use the pre-BES 4.0 method of activation. Enter the PIN number of the device into the BES account. Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager, selecting the BES option, and connect the device via USB. The BDM will see the device and start the activation automatically.

if you have the devices prior to assigning them to users, then you can activate them using the 'pump station' method (BlackBerry Manager remote installation; or directly to the BES via USB).

but if you're asking what i think you're asking, the ultimate answer is no. if the devices go to the users directly, they will have to interact with the handheld (or, as within my corporation, we have desktop support personnel make a trip over to the user to activate the handhelds).

Default my method

Prior to sending people their activation i usually send a howto to my users to ease thier activation.

Usually the information i include is a reminder to copy and paste their activation password to make it easier, and that they have to do this in 24 hours.

The hardest part i have found, is exec that want to be on BES and dont understand that the password they are sent only last 24 hours.... no matter how much i let them know that they have to activate withing 24 hours they always state " i was too busy "

I guess they think I just sit around all day....
