Question Applying BES service packs - mobile device issues?

Please Login to Remove!

repost...

I have just been asked to take over adminstration of the server as the previous admin has left our organisation. I have been asked to upgrade the BES server from 3.6.2 to 3.6.7 and from what I have read it appears that that this will not be a problem to install SP7 without the need for any other interveening Service packs. But I have another question about the client devices.

Our dodgy documentation, within our organisation, suggests that, after aplying BES service packs, the client devices stop working until they are recradled (or removed and then reconnected) with their desktop machines.

Is this right?

Is this the only change that needs to be done to the client devices to get them working again after a server service pack?

thanks,
Paul

I tried to upgrade from 3.6.2 to 3.6.7 before. Handheld recradled is not necessary for such upgrade. However, since the upgrade will upgrade the database as well, you need to stop all BES service on other BES if you have more than 1 BES connecting to the same configuration database.

I just performed an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 then upgraded 4.1 to 4.1 SP1. RIM reccommended a phased upgrade.

Oh I forgot to mention, none of our users were required to recradle, and we have 1200 users. Though we took quite a few backups just in case:P
