I have a client whose's IT department will not install a BES. This user desperately needs the ability to have wireless synchonization of contacts, calendar items, etc. since a hookup to a box is not always readily available for days on end in order to perform a sync.
Is it possible to install a BES Express server for a single user only in a location outside of his corporate infrastructure (w/access to the exchange server via VPN or RPC over HTTPS) such that:
1. The user can wirelessly receive emails, sync contacts, calendar, etc.
2. The IT dept would need to make zero configuration changes?
I've never setup a BES server before, so I apologize if I'm being naive. After reading the install guide, I was hoping that instead of utilizing a service user with Send As permissions it would be possible to use my client's id to connect to the exchange server. He would be the only one utilizing the BES server and as such I'm figuring no special permissions on the exchange server would be required.
Would running the server in this manner create more of a load (i.e. be readily detected) on the exchange server vs. say running the "Desktop Redirector"?
