Default Stop Reconciliation to Outlook Client - 09-13-2006, 03:36 PM

I am using BES 4.0 and a Blackberry 7130e. The user wants to stop the handheld from updating the Outlook client, so Outlook thinks nothing has been opened. It is reconciling both ways now, which is the default I think.

From both the Global and the User properties, the Bi-Directional email reconcile is greyed out, I cannot change it. Should it be greyed out? Is there another way to stop this?

as far as I'm aware when it comes to message settings you can either have reconciliation bi-directional or not at all. so you would have to turn it off completely for that user.

Ok, still very new to admin BES. If I stop reconciliation completely what will that do to email delivery to the blackberry? Will it stop or will it have no change other that the reconciliation?

Turning off the reconciliation will only stop message moves, deletions, read and unread marks from being syncronised. actual messages will still come through fine

Ok maybe I'm not doing it correctly but I am still getting redirection.

I am in the properties of the user, PIM Sync, under Email Filters and under Email Settings, I have Wireless Synchonization disabled for this database.

Is that the correct spot or should I be doing it in another tab? If I disable the user for Redirection by right clicking on the name in BES, I stop all email forwarding.

That is email filters and email settings. you want to go on the handheld and turn off email reconciliation.

Ok so that worked, I turned off the reconciliation from the handheld and read messages do not reconcile, which is what I want.

But now I just found out that messages that have been replied to, do reconcile. Can that be disabled as well?

You mean sent items from the handheld are being created in the sent items folder in Outlook? Then from the handheld turn off sent item redirection.

Mailbox -> options -> set 'save copy in sent folder' to no

No I mean, when any message is read then replyed to from the blackberry, Outlook will show the same message as being replyed too in his outlook Inbox.

What I want is, no reconciliation at all.
