Default The Many Application Event Logs of BES 4 - 09-14-2006, 09:21 AM

Running BES 4 SP5HF123 on W2k3 server SP1, EXCH 2k environment. CDO and Mapi32 files newer then w2kexch server as stated in previous articles to do so.

I'm experiencing the problem where the application log fills up and BESAlert.exe goes to 100% cpu usage. Since i don't see an automatic solution to that problem my next step is to try to reduce some of these event messages. Some events have the beautiful description stating that the description for this event could not be found. Most events Do show error messages. I've resorted to listing them here after searching for them specifically on blackberryforums, support.microsoft.com and the blackberry technical articles. Maybe i'm missing the all "encompasing list of event errors for blackberry handbook". Maybe i was away the day they handed that out. Anyway, if anyone can assist with ANY of these errors, I would appreiciate it and endevor to return the favor.
I cleared the even log on this fine morning, and began watching the events flow in.

EVENT1:
{steve.smith@gdxautomotive.com} Synchronize() failed: ERR_FAIL, Tag=196125
EXPLAINATION: this user is using a 7780 from Rogers running 4.0.0.219. I received a few of these errors in a row. the Tag value kept incrementing.

EVENT2:
[SYNC-DSession] Received empty Add for Backup's Recipient Cache. [Hymer, Stacy:34]

EVENT3:
{stacy.hymer@gdxautomotive.com} Synchronize() failed: ERR_FAIL, Tag=196268

EVENT4:
[SERVICE_RELAY_SESSIONxxx840:0078b0a0] Service transaction not found. SERVICESESSION_TAG=9647012

EVENT5:
{steve.smith@gdxautomotive.com} Synchronize() failed: ERR_FAIL, Tag=196595
Explaination: TONS of these.

EVENT6:
SCS::GetValidP2PKeyBlobFromDB - Failed to Get Peer To Peer Key Sequence.

EVENT7:
{janice.stipp@gdxautomotive.com} CDOCalendar::GetCDOAppointment - Exception handled.

not at all. I had to move on. We didn't get a T support package so i can't ask RIM tech. That was some time ago and since then i'm sure there are lots more error messages repeatedly....

Do you know what sync is failing for you? Mine is the calendar for one of our outer office locations. However I have checked the permissions and they are fine. So, I'm at a loss as of right now, and since our T-Support Ran out, I don't have that much help.

Default DST patches applied? - 02-22-2007, 08:48 PM

the Calendar errors may be related to having applied the recent Daylight Savings Time patches. Is Exchange server patched and not the BES, or vice versa?

I'm seeing lots of "...CDOCalendar...Exception handled" logs since deploying the BES handheld patch!

I noticed my CDO.dll versions where different after the update so I replaced the one on my BES with the one on my mail server and registered it, that seems to have stopped the events, but I only did it 10 minutes ago so i won't tell for sure till the end of the day, my events seem to be in large chunks but random timing.

my app log was filling up quickly as well, but i attributed it to the massive bb rollout we're undertaking. most of the errors are undefined. my solution was to quadruple the size of the app log ;).

vzw bb 8703e

i don't user proper capitalization when typing.
