Default Moving users from one BES server to another - 09-14-2006, 12:27 PM

Hi

I currently have one BES server in one geographical location, I am going to setup new BES server in different geographic location, build new hardware and install BES , I will be purchasing new BES server license.

I want to move 400 users from old BES server to new BES server without reactivating.

Also I want to use the old CAL in my new BES server.

I am looking out the following options

Export to legacy server & move users between servers.

How to go about it ?

Should I use a new SQL database ?

Any help is appreciated.

No.

1. Stop Old BES.
2. Back up the database
3. Install new BES with the BlackBerry Server name the same as the old server.
4. restore database over the new one you created in step 3
5. start BB services.
6. Do a dance.

I didn't include your pre-requisites so make sure you read the install guide.

Hi,

I will not be able to use the same domino server name, since the domino server is used as well. I need to bring in new domino server to setup & install SQL Server fresh.

How to proceed in this ?

BlackBerry Server name != Domino server name.

This is the name that shows up in the manager it might match the hostname because that is what it is by default.
