Exclamation Domino Domain Migration - 09-18-2006, 06:18 AM

HI:

I am migrating Notes users from and old domino domain we have just taken over into our main domino domain. There are Blackberry users in the old domain and I was hoping not to have to enterprise activate all these users again once setup in the main domino domain.

We are not using AdminP for the migration but registering the old domain users as new users in the main domino domain. There are several reasons for doing this but mainly to keep things as clean as possible

old name: Joe Bloggs/CompanyB in DomainB
new name: Joe Bloggs/Country/CompanyA in DomainA

The newly registered users will have their fullname field populated as follows:
Joe Bloggs/Country/CompanyA
Joe Bloggs/CompanyB
Joe Bloggs
<StaffNumber>

Internet Email address remains unchanged. [email address]

I had hoped the BES server after a restart would read in the Directory Assitance and pick up the new name and the blackberry would continue to work. After speaking to our support they suggested the documents UNID needs to be the same for BES to pick up but ours were different as of create a new person document in the main domain. Tried udpating the UNID to match the old this to no avail.

Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated to save having to EA many devices,

cheers, james

You may have to look at the profiles database and the users statedatabase.
The profiles db is reloaded if its deleted, so you may be able to "reload" the users with the new domino name changes. Do not delete the users' state dbs because this will stop mail redirection, and you'll have to re-add the user in order to create a new state db.
Try manipulating one of the users in profiles and state db to see if any thing changes. Make a backup (do an OS file copy...same as a replica) of the users' state db before you proceed.

I recall in the BES 2.2 if you remove the UNID field and then restart BES, it will "learn" and "update" it. You may like to try that, think the agent is something like:
FIELD UNID := @Unavailable;

I would seek the help of a Domino developer for assistance to confirm.
