Default Changing BES Authentication Mode

Please Login to Remove!

We just recently implemented a Windows 2003 BES Server (Domino). When we set it up we originally chose "windows authentication" mode. We later found out that this doesn't really work well if we want to run the Manager software on different PC's in the organization (not in a domain).

So the solution appears to be to move to "Mixed Authentication Mode" on the BES server which allows both SQL and Windows authentication.

Questions/thoughts:
- According to Microsoft we have to make registry changes to accomplish this.
- Any pitfalls to watch out for when doing this change?
- I'm guessing that we won't have to recreate any SQL databases, and the user data will stay intact (?)

Thanks,
Stu

Default

Just in case someone finds this on a search.

Changed from Windows to SQL Authentication (MSDE) without an issue.

We can now run the Manager on PC's not authenticated to any domain regardless of their windows login. [As long as they use an SQL user account]
