Default HELP - Upgrade Problem ! - 10-05-2006, 08:37 AM

Hi

I have just installed BES 4.1 (exchange) on server 2003 platform. we also have a BES 3.6 (exchange) with 134 users which i need to move across - any quick easy instructions to do this.

Also when i delete a user from the old BES 3.6 and then add the user to the new BES 4.1 the user has to cradle the blackberry to create new encryption key ( device is running 4.0 OS) and then it works. i thought if the OS of the device is 4.0 then it should accitvate automatically. Olso i have tried to take a user off the old BES and try Enterprise acctivation by sending email to user with password, it does not acitvate the blackberry (os 4.0) any ideas as to why this is happening. Thanks inadvance.

AJ.

To EA a handheld you actually have to type the the email address and password in on the BlackBerry.

Only BES's that are in the same BlackBerry Domain ( i.e. they share the same configuration database ) allow you to move users seemlessly so that the new server takes control and activates the handheld automatically.

If not in the same domain you will need to delete the user from the 1st BES and add them to the second BES and then go through Enterprise Activation manually. WIth devices that run 4.0 or above you should be able to do wireless activation but additionally you may need to wipe the handheld before attempting this.

As you have found out, cradling and creating a new encryption key usually gets round this problem.

On the device go to the calendar app. Go to Options and set Wiresless Sync to Yes.
