Default MDS Questions

I am interested in enabling MDS for my enterprise. I have had some issues finding documentation outlining requrements for MDS and a general How-To (I have read documentation and it did not assist in getting MDS up and running). I am curious if those of you running MDS can give me some pointers.

What exactly do you need to know? We are running MDS on our BES and it doesn't really require a lot more perfomance of your computer. We only use MDS for accessing the internet and intranet of our company. We aren't using any other specific applications on it.

mmunchinski - the first question to ask is are you running a BES? MDS (Mobile Data Service) is a component of BES. No BES, no MDS.

Currently have 2 BES servers, 1 (old one) running v3.6 no MDS, 2 (running v4.0) attemtping MDS. I used the 4.0 upgrade as an opportunity to offload BES from the old server so I can decomission it.

Here is what is happening.

Currently in the console I can view both servers, was using this to facilitate transfer of users between servers (lot of contantly travelling users, not much opportunity to dock or load new soft).

The only catch is on the new server it is sharing hardware with McAfee ePO which already uses many ports MDS does, no big deal I assumed and changed the MDS default ports. Whenever MDS is started, it stops shortly afterward citing "....service has terminated unexpectedly x times...."

I have browsed through the BES logs but have not come across anything that has been of any revelation.

Also, since this is all push based, this server does not have to be public internet facing whatsoever correct?
