Apparently it is possible to slow down the Desktop Redirector to allow SPAM filters time to run.
Can something like this be done with BES 4.1.2?

To set up the Blackberry server on a 45 second delay before forwarding messages.
Instructions for versions prior to 4.0:
1. Run REGEDIT on the BES Server
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. SOFTWARE
4. Research In Motion
5. BlackBerry Enterprise Server
6. Servers
7. ServerName > (Ex., BESSERVER)
8. Find a DWORD value "ProcessMailDelay"
9. If not found, create a new DWORD value "ProcessMailDelay"
10. Set value data to 45 (for 45 seconds) or whatever value that you prefer for the delay in sending mail.
11. Save the new value.
12. Restart BES service
