Default A Couple of BESx4.1.2 Upgrade Questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I'm just about ready to perform an in-place upgrade of my BESx4.0.5 server to BESx4.1.2, and have a couple of questions/observations.

1. I have decided to use the BESx4.1.2_full download from RIM's FTP site as opposed to going to BESx4.1, and then applying the upgrade to 4.1.2. Looking at the file sizes, I wonder why the BESx4.1 (full) installer is 464 MB, while the BESx4.1.2 (full) installer is only 231 MB. I did verify the downloads came down completely, and both unzip just fine.

2. The SDR 100058 know issue with BESx4.1.2 is a bit unnerving in that it sounds like all BB handhelds would have the "delete on" setting forced to "handheld only". Anyone running 4.1.2 experience this after deleting a user?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I ran into this one a few weeks ago. we get out downloads from a carrier approved site rather than directly from RIM.

We ran into an issue in that their 4.1.2 upgrade wouldn't install over 4.0.X, indeed it stopped with "incompatible version detected on the system", this is because RIM decided that the 4.0.x to 4.1 upgrade was a chargeable upgrade and we weren't using the "paid for" installer files.

Ok, after beating this to death via email exchanges with RIM support, it looks like the besx4.12 full installer does not contain some client/handheld software (MDS Services stuff) that the besx4.1 full installer does. Hence the file size difference.

As for the 4.1.2 known issue about "delete on" settings reverting back to handheld only, I'll see what happens after the upgrade from 4.0.5.

The driving force behind this upgrade from 4.0.5 to 4.1.2 is, per RIM tech support, to resolve an issue I'm having with calendar sync errors when Outlook delegates manipulate other user's meetings.

Hopefully, this move will makes things better...

Thanks to all for the feedback.
