Default New Admin for BES

Please Login to Remove!

I have heard many different thoughts on this topic. I own a small company with a Windows 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. We have 3 Outlook boxes and I would like to add BES to my exchange box. We do not have the budget to purchase a second server for BES...is there any way to run BES on the same server as our DC and exchange? One server for all.

Thanks for your help.

RIM highly recommends that the BES not reside on the same server as Exchange. BES does not require a very hardcore server. You could theoretically run the BES on a workstation class machine, as long as you have a server OS loaded. You only have a few users, so hardware resources should not be a problem.

I have heard many people running a 200-300 user BES on a Dell Optiplex workstation. Those are pretty cheap, and you may have something laying around that would suffice.

if its under 15 users RIM fully supports the install of BES on exchange.

Personally I'd run it on a separate box as it then means any upgrades/changes to your BES Config won't affect your primary BES. You can run it on XP Pro, get a box with this os and 1MB or ram and you should be good to go. $200 maximum
