Question Getting IMAP messages into the BBerry's inbox

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We just got a new IP PBX (Mitel) which has unified messaging. Voicemails are place in user's "regular" Outlook/Exchange inbox using IMAP. The voicemail is simply an email with a wav attachment. These "emails" are not being sync'd to the users' handhelds though (8700s). Any ideas why these arent going thru and/or how to fix?

Thanks

Larry V

1) Please spec what version BES you are running. If you look elsewehere then you need a recent version (4.1 or 4.1.2 IIRC) to be able to receive media files.

2) 8700's don't support playback of media currently, you'll have to wait to 8800s come about or switch to 8100

3) Does the Mitel actually 'send the message as an email" - your description suggests that it might be bypassing the regular 'receive an email' process on exchange..

We are on BES 4.1.2.20, which is pretty current. The Mitel seems to "place" the emails in the box (definitely not using smtp...the techs told me it was IMAP). I understand the handheld limitations, but even the message alone (without the attachment) would be helpful since it has caller id info.

Heres the headers for a voicemail message:

One thing I found is you can access Web Outlook through the Browser on the BB and play your voice mail that way.

Found a Mitel Fix:

Right click on UM Client Manager in your system tray, click on My Um Mailbox, User Settings,
Addresses, E-mail, add your email address to forward to:
**If using Unified Messaging, e-mail address entered cannot be the same as Corporate e-mail.** So I have a seperate email address that forwards to my Corporate account, just so itxxx8217;s different from your main Corporate E-mail.
Check Beside Send E-mail with New Voice Messages and Attach Voice File to E-mail

Then under Message Options, click on Message forwarding, Message Forward and Under Address Type choose Email, enter in Email Address to Forward your Voice Mails to. Check beside Delete After Forward.

Now this will lead to duplicate Voice Mails you can create some rules if you want to delete the duplicate Voice Mails

What I got back from our Mitel Support Vendor:

Mitel is aware of the issue with using both Imap and SMTP addresses user accounts. An update is now available for the server software.

Default Wav file for 6510

Hi there, you mention you've spoken to Mitel and they have a fix/update for the 6510 ver2 (I assume) to open .wav direct once they appear in Outlook then the Blackberry Pearl (8100), unfortunately via our distribution (Telinet UK based) they state Mitel have no such fix. Can you provide a direct link or source at Mitel to assist is helping identifying the fix?

Any help is appreciated

Dave
