Angry BES 4.1 for Exchange SP2 hangs

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

We have just completed a fresh install of BlackBerry 4.1 for Exchange 2003. We then immediatly moved onto installing the SP2. Unfortunately this hangs (seems to be on file ce.dll).

We have waited overnight for it to complete, so I do not think we can be accused of impatience.

Has anybody experienced something similar?
If so is there anything we can try, to ensure a clean install of SP2.

Any hints and tips welcome.

Thanks
Simon

Default User Error

We initially believed we had a 4.1 version to which we would then add SP2.

However RIM bundle the service packs into the latest version to form 4.1.1 then 4.1.2. Our 4.1 being a recent download was therefore actually 4.1.2.

So effectively we were trying to install SP2 twice.

I'm embarassed to have made such a call, but at least it may act as a gotcha for future users!

Embarrased
Simon

I had to do this for 2 servers a couple of weeks ago. Shared SQL database on a 2nd box. Ultimately took a week, a complete loss of service to all 1000 users for 45 minutes at one stage (not the end of the world) and a 4 days on the phone with tsupport coupled with massive hairloss on my end. Long and short, if your doing this, and struggling, start from scratch if you have the option (i.e. if you have 2 servers, move all users 2 one and kill/rebuild the other then move to newly upgarded and repeat.) don't try and do it with the other server talking to the database (hence the outage) or it will fail continuously. Am happy to sob over my experience at length if you need the gory details.
