Please Login to Remove!

Hi ALL

I am a newpie for BES Server.

I have just finished installing BES Enterprise 4.1.

Now I can add user from GAL, But I can not assign user to Device.

There is an item at old version called Assign User to HandHeld on BlackBerry
Configure Tool,

where is it on Latest Enterprise version ?

i HAVE FOUND WHERE IT IS.

BUT WHEN i ADD A USER TO BES SERVER, ITS STATUS IS INITLING....

EVEN IF I WAIT FOR AN HOUR.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Thanks

Assign user to a device should only be used if you have the users device cradled to the BES server itself.

Otherwise user Ent. activation..Add the user then find them in the user list and go to "serivce access/set activation password". Then put in a simple 4 letter password (1 time use only) and on the device select the Ent. Act Icon, enter the users email address and the p/w and select activate.

If that doesn't work you've got a permissions issue.

Yes, I have put my device on the cradle.
and I can see it on connection windows.

The problem is that:

On Bes server side, The user status is initlizing.

So I can not do any further step.

Have meet that problem?

My Enviroment is:

BES 4.1
Server is :Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange

You have to open the Handheld configuration program.

Then click on Handhelds.
On the list you will see the user you want to assign the handheld to and on the right hand side click on 'assgn handheld'
A box will open on the screen showing you the units that are connected.
Select the unit you want to assign.

I have the same config as yours, I'm also a newbie, and had also the same problem...
MLy problem was solved after correcting the exchange permissions on the exchange server, using Exchange System Manager :
- on the "first administrative group" (if not available, right click on YOURDOMAIN (exchange)) and check "display administrtaive groups") : right click, delegate control, and add your besadmin user with Exchange View Only Administrator
- on your servername (under "servers"), right click, properties, security tab, add your besadmin account with Send As, Receive As and Administer Information Store permissions.

Delete your user in blackberry manager (I think it's better), maybe restart your server (always good to do). Login as besadmin, add your user, connect your blackberry using the USB cable directly on the server, assign the blackberry to the user, refresh the screen, and it should be OK !

Good luck,

Thomas
