I got a quick question for the admins, i have a company BB 7290 and i just recently got a new 8700 in the box, I recently upgrades to DM 4.2 which i see has the feature to swap devices.

Is this correct?

1. I simply run the DM 4.2 and select the swap device icon and let it do its backup.

2. Swap the sim from the 7290 into the 8700 and let it load parts of the backup

3. Do i still need to notify the BES admins the PIN has been changed or does the DM 4.2 synched with our BES servers & Exchange 2k3 servers register the new pin?

4. Do i need to do OTA ent activation again or will synching with the DM take care of that?

5. Do i need to contact Cingular with the new IMEI number so the Unlimited BB Data is continued on my new BB?

I feel im making it sound a lot easier said then done, and im sure im missing a piece of the puzzel... i used to be a BES admin but got out of IT just before i really got into it... any advice is appreciated thanks

Should be that simple most devices once plugged into a working machine that has DM and an active connection to the server should prompt you to swap

put in your 7290 to the DM and do a backup first

shouldn't need to unless you have some very restrictive IT policy which disables some devices being used. if your setup correctly no need to change anthing it should auto update

Same sim card which is what I would presume your carrier charges you unlimited plan to so shouldnt need to advise them of anything either.

Great thanks for the reply, for the EA im not sure with DM 4.2 but usually it requires a new password and a call to IT. if it doesnt activate with DM like on BES 3.6 by just plugging in then i guess i know the answer..
