Default Upgrade to SP2: Database Update Failed

Please Login to Remove!

good morning guys!

i am haveing an issue and i need to see if you can help. I am updateing my BES from 4.1 SP1 to SP2 and I am getting this ever so frustrating generic Database Update Failed error message.

I have read the knowledgebase article and i am not getting much success. my error was related to the 103302.sql file. I ran this as stated and resulted with 1 rows affected.

I then tried to install the update again and ended up with an error message stating the trans logs were full. I researched this for about an hour and found what i think cleared the trans logs.

I then retried the update and came out with the original error.... the 103302.sql related issue

Please help... i am getting so frustrated and their technical support hold times are freaking rediculous!!!

We had a similar issue this morning. The cause (found from looking in the installation log) was a full database (for some reason it was set to 100MB max size with no autogrow) - this was also causing other issues which have now been resolved. I had to use the 103302.sql query after fixing the problem and before trying the update again.

As ||||||| said, post your errors from the log file

so here was the log file errors i was getting:

1st was this one related to the 103302.sql script

Then after running that i would get this one:

SQL Error Message from CBESDBInstaller::ExecuteSql.executeDirect: SQLSTATE: 42000 Native error: 9002 Message: The log file for database 'BESMgmt' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.

The final resoltion was to run this script.. but slightly modified as seen below:

Open a command prompt.
Type osql -E and press ENTER.
Type the following commands in the specified order:
1> exec sp_helpdb <database_name>

where <database_name> is the name of the BlackBerry Configuration Database (for example BESMgmt).

Note: This will display the file names used in the BlackBerry Configuration Database.

2> go

1> ALTER DATABASE <database_name> MODIFY FILE (NAME = <database_name>, MAXSIZE=UNLIMITED)

2> go

1> quit

THIS was changed to :

Open a command prompt.
Type osql -E and press ENTER.
Type the following commands in the specified order:
1> exec sp_helpdb <database_name>

where <database_name> is the name of the BlackBerry Configuration Database (for example BESMgmt).

Note: This will display the file names used in the BlackBerry Configuration Database.

2> go

1> ALTER DATABASE <database_name> MODIFY FILE (NAME = <database_name>_log , MAXSIZE=UNLIMITED)

2> go

1> quit

i was sent these knoweldge base articles for anyone else with the same issues:
