Question Filtered Messages

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
In BES Manager I can see that the counter for "Filtered Messages" for some users increases. But I have not defined any filter on the server and users have not defined any filter on their devices.
Redirection is not disabled.
For most users the counter is 0.

What can cause BES to increase the "Filtered Messages" counter?

Thanks

P.S. BES 4.1.1 on Exchange 2003, Handheld type 8700

Regards,
MarBerry

I'm having the exact same problem.

I've tried wiping the RIM, and deleting and recreating the user on the BES, but nothing seems to work.

There are no filters in place, but when I look at the redirector, it says all emails are being filtered.

I have exactly the same problem and have been scratching my head over this for 36 hours.
I wonder if it is an exchange setting stopping emails

Messages can be filtered FROM the handhelds or filtered TO the handhelds. Have the user see if they are actually getting mail.

Post Filtered Messages

I have the same issue.

I have not set up any global filters on the BES. My users don't have user created filters on their devices.

My users are getting mail to their blackberry devices. It just seems that some users (including myself) have more than "0" listed in the "Filtered Message" column on BES manger.

Can someone please explain?

Steve

my guess... and purely a guess is that the "RIM Network" messages are what brings up the filtered count.

These are the messages you may have seen once or twice in outlook, I think they are used to carry the encryption key or SRP ID to the device, or the device information to the BES server. I've seen these a few times in outlook after generating a new encryption key from the desktop manager.

I am having the same issue with many of my users. I have checked and have no filters applied globally and I have checked with the users and they do not have any set. I have been trying to figure this out for awhile now. Any info would be appreciated.

Messages are filtered in the following situations:

- When the BlackBerry device is connected to the computer (this is the default setting but it can be modified).
- Based on filter rules set in BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- Based on global filter rules enabled on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
