Default Domino on iSeries

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

We're looking at installing a BES. Currently we have Domino 7.0.1 installed on our iSeries. Evidently we have to install a new Domino server on the wintel machine that the BES will be running on in order to get it to work properly.

It's a pain in the rear, but that's the way she goes. It would be great if BES could run on iSeries natively, but there's no telling if and when that could be available.

Has anyone gone through this scenario? Any pitfalls to avoid?

Thanks,

Steve

Default Iseries

Our environment is two iseries servers, around 5-6 wintel domino servers, plus a dedicated BES wintel. Works fine, nothing architecture specific to watch out for. As you mentioned however, yes it has to run on Wintel...if you have a SQL box already, I would recommend that over using MSDE, particularily if you have a large number of users...we have 100+.and are going to switch to a full SQL setup.

Works like a champ!

mshykula, do you have any performance issues with 100 users on MSDE? We've had a SQL server prior to BES and have always used that.

Not really...the box in general is older and slow...and we do get some logs where the MSDE exceeds the connection limit, so I am assuming from this we are exceeding the limits of the server. I wouldn't say it is just a SQL issue in our case but overall hardware on the server.
