Default Open Excel file from Intranet site

Please Login to Remove!

One of our VP's has asked if he is able to open and view an Excel file using his BlackBerry.

We are using a BES 4 server and by using the BlackBerry browser I am able to open up our SharePoint site using my login credentials, but when I try to open up the file the device gives an error message stating:

"HTTP Error 406: Not Acceptable. The page you are trying to load is not supported by the browser. Please try loading a different page."

"200: Application can not accept the content [application/vnd.ms-excel]"

Since we can view excel files when they are attached to an e-mail, can we some how configure the BES server to realize it needs to view the excel file first and then pass it on to the device?

Thanks

Default

As long as you have the attachment server set up, you should be able to view excel files from either an internal web server, or in e-mail attachments.

Sharepoint is a different beast though. If I remember correctly, when you click on a link in sharepoint, it wont open it in the browser in IE, it downloads a temp xls file to your system and opens it. I dont think this will fly w/ BES.

I do believe you can publish the XLS to a webserver and have the BB's navigate it through there though.
