Question Does BES for Domino need a separate Domino Domain?

Please Login to Remove!

Customer has one Domino Domain and several Domino servers. Now customer want to use BES. For Domino which BES will be installed on top of it, we have 2 options:

1> create separate Domino Domain for BES, and make cross certification with BES Domino domain & customer's Domino Domain ...

2>register a new Domino server in customer's Domino Domain, and install BES on the new Domino, so BES Domino is in the customer's Domino Domain also.

Which is better? Which is recommended?

thanks!

Install in the same Domino domain.

We support two Domino domains due to merger. We've seen problem with the BRK. Some of the BRK tool does not recognize log information for the second domain. Adding/migrating BES user on the second domain is a pain. We've never tested mail server failover on the second domain so I'm not sure if it works at all. RIM tech support on this topic seems limited. Most of the stuff we had to figure it out ourselves.
