Default Wireless push application install problem

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to push out the DST patch to all our handhelds. We have 4 different models on the system 7250, 7130e, 7100i, and 8703e. When I apply the software configuration to the 7250's and then "Update Configuration Check Status" it tells me "Install required" and then after a while installs with no problem. However when I do the same thing for the other models it just tells me "Application status: Up to date" and then never installs.
I know some people were having problems with the DST patch, but I don't think this has anything to do with the patch in particular, because I also tried pushing out a different application and the same thing happened. For some reason it seems as though I can only push applications to the 7250's.

Does anyone have any ideas why that would be, and how to fix it?

-Thanks

BES Version:4.0.3.2 for Lotus
Handheld OS Version: 4.1.x.x (most), 4.0.0.204 (some of the 7250's)

Note: You should upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 Service Pack 5 or later before completing this procedure.

I just did that and it looks like it may have solved my problem. Though I'm still waiting the "4 hours" for the applications to actually install.

Thanks.

Recommended Production: 120 to 240
Recommended Test (Non-Production): 30 to 60
Pretty-Much-Instant Setting: 5 (NOT recommended unless extremely temporary for one user in a non-Production environment)

I was having the issue of Pearl's (8100's) not receiving the patch, however it listed as App Status: up-to-date in BB Mgr. The problem was my old device.xml had no entry for the 8100. Even if you are on the latest versions of BES, ensure that:

1. The device.xml in the sw config apploader location is the very latest. You do not have to replace the version on the BES servers in c:\progra~1\common files\research...etc , just the sw config location you have shared out (if that is a separate location which in my case is on our attachment server). Download the latest Desktop Mgr 4.2 SP1 and grab it from there if you need the latest version.

2. Delete all cached pkgs on each BES server in the packagecache directory. During the next 4 hour re-send it will rebuild the packages and include the newer device.xml from #1 above.

To summarize: You can still deploy this patch to newer devices w/o upgrading the whole BES box, just update the device.xml in the sw config locations and clear the package caches on all your 4.0 BES servers.

Thats sounds like exactly what my problem was. I ended up upgrading anyway though, it was overdue.

Thanks.

You can update the registry to force it to go out in less than four hours if you want. Just add a DWORD, and give it a value for the number of minutes to wait between pushes.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\BlackBerry IT Admin Server\AppProvisioningPollInterval

Of course, this is just to get the patcher on the device. From what I've seen so far, it still takes a while for the actual patch to be pushed down.

Default Device.xml update worked for Pearls not getting DST patch

I just wanted to add and confirm that the update of the device.xml file for the DST patch as described above worked for us. We had 7200's working but not 8100's. The 8100's are now receiving the patch wirelessly. Thanks for the post
