Default More Red X Issues (Non -admin accounts) - 03-05-2007, 10:46 AM

On Saturday we updated our Exchange environment to the DST ready levels which brought our Blackberry devices sending ability to its knees.

We have been on Exchange SP2 for over a year and had addressed the send as issues at that time. Now, after this update, it has reared its head again and we are unable to send messages from the devices.

I have looked at out AD setup and we do not have the besadmin as a domain administrator (just a domain user) and on all user accounts the besadmin account has permissions to send as.

What am i missing here? I have installed the Exchange DST update on the Blackberry Server but that has not resolved our issues as of yet.

I have read so many KB articles and searched to the point that i am getting sick and cant figure out what is going on with our setup. Any ideas?

minor update. if i run the setsendaspermissions tool and then restart the BES it works. If i run the tool and do not restart the bes... it will not work at all.

What exactly is this tool doing. if i can determine that i may be able to find the resolution to my issues.

Resolved.

I knew that this was permissions but was unsure where the issues lied. In all of my user accounts we could see that the BES admin could send as. What we did to resolve it was right click the domain in AD and select properties, security, and added the BES account there to send as. Permissions on the accounts appeared the same as before, but it worked.

BTW, we did the 20 minutes or taking the bberry router service down on the bes as well to be safe.
