Default BES 4 with Domino setup

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone;
First, I apologize if I am posting under the wrong topic.

I am new to the world of BES and was hoping you could help me with some questions, the documentation that comes with the BES software is not that great.

1. Can the BES be installed on a seperate server? Or does it need to be installed on the same server as Domino.

2. The BlackBerryAdmins group: I do not house the SMTP gateway here, it is with our mother company overseas. Does this group need to be created at the spoke of our domino enterprise or can I create a local account on my server?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide

Hi Jblair,

Similar setup as we have here:

The BES is NOT installed on the same Domino Server as your mail. I have installed the BES on a separate server...to install BES 4.0 you will need to install the program files of Domino Server on the same server as the BES. It uses these programs as a connector to your REAL Domino mail server. No mailboxes etc etc are on this second instance of the Domino Server.

So you may have to get your overseas company to create an additional Domino Server ID and server so that you can install BES on that second server.

As for the BESAdminGroup: We are unable to do any of that locally so we had our overseas company do that for us...I think it would make sense to make the ID that way.

Other than that, there was very little environmental changes to our system and seemed to be a very easy install.

Regards...

Thanks for the input, seems pretty straight forward from here.
