Default Upgrade MSDE 2000 to SQL Server 2000 (locally)

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone out there upgraded there existing MSDE 2000 database on their BES to SQL Server 2000? I've found heaps of articles referring to upgrading the database to a remote SQL Server, but not locally. Is it as simple as installing SQL Server 2000 on the BES, & having the installer detect that there is an MSDE database running, and then prompt to upgrade the MSDE database to a full SQL Server databse?

Also, would I need to upgrade MSDE 2000 to to the same SP as the full version prior?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers

Check this Microsoft article:-

Thanks. I had a look at that article yesterday. It states that you can upgrade the existing MSDE 2000 configuration database to SQL Server. The SQL Server installation program recognizes an installation of MSDE 2000 and its accompanying data files and transaction logs. This allows you to upgrade MSDE 2000 directly to SQL Server.

Sounds easy enough. Does anyone know of any other things I should take into consideration? Note this will be done as part of a phased upgrade & I will not be converting the configuration database on the live BES.
