BES Xpress on SBS 2003
I've installed BES Xpress v4.1.3 (the free 1 user license version) on an SBS 2003 box at one of my clients. I've read plenty of discussions saying that it'll work, others saying it won't.
When I add my user using the BB Manager, it adds successfully, but then it stops. The status remains as Initializing and it's been like this now for more than 24 hours.
I ran the default installation, but since we also have SQL 2000, the installation added the BES db's to the SQL instance automatically.
I followed the documention completely and all the permissions, etc are all in place. I have heard that under certain conditions, SBS revokes the SEND AS permissions for the BESADMIN user, but this has not happened here.
All the connection tests during the installation passed and the SRP status shows as connected.
After adding the user I get this message:
<N/A> | BlackBerry Messaging Agent SERVER Agent 1 (Application Event Log on SERVER) | 05/30/2007 17:33:01 (6FFFC3AE) -> [AUDIT] - User added to the BES
The user is added, but that's it. It initializes forever.
Note that the installation notes mention that you should NOT install Outlook on the BES server, so I removed the version of Outlook 2003 that was installed on the server prior to installing BES.
At a previous attempt at adding a user I got this error:
MAPIMailbox::CreateSearchFolder - Open folder failed (0x80070005) failed
But after a reboot and adding/removing users I've not seen it crop up again.
Any advice, tools, or steps I could try?
I have now also installed BES Xpress on a Win2K3 R2 server running Exchange 2003 SP2. Same thing.
Are there any special considerations for installing BES on a server that's already running Exchange?
Or the 'besadmin' forums here as there was a link posted a while ago on this exact question.
