Hoping someone can shed some light on this. Basically I have a client that has set up a software configuration on their BES for our application.

They pushed this to the user the first time with no problem but they didn't have the right policy applied.
I talked them through setting up the policy and got them to resend it to the user but it didn't appear to go through.
We then set the policy disposition to disallowed to remove the software and make sure the policy was pushing through ok. The user got the notification that the software was going to be removed and it did remove.

Now we have set the policy for the software configuration back to Required but it doesn't seem to be working. On the BES under software configuration for the user it shows "Install Required" but there is nothing showing up on the hand held.

Is there something I'm missing? The software configuration has obviously been pushed to the device at least twice so I cant understand why it will not go a third time. Is there something on the hand held that needs to be done to complete the installation?

Sadly I have a BES here but no devices attached to it so cant test it myself and I'm in no way an expert when it comes to BES configurations.

I'm NOT a BES person, but from what I understand, once you set a policy - remove programname - you have to remove it (clear it) from the policy. The polciy to install programname is probably different from the policy to remove programname. You'd need to clear the remove programname policy for the install to work.

I see what you mean. The "remove policy" was the same policy but just had the disposition set to disallowed. Once this was done the disposition was set back to "required" which in effect should be the same as a new "install policy" (I think ).

In other words there is no policy there now saying this software needs to be removed.

Like I said I'm nowhere near a BES expert but I really couldn't understand why it wouldn't send it back out again I will get them to rename the folder the .alx and .cod files are in and see if that sorts things out.

how long does it usually take for applications to get pushed OTA? I made a new software config and added google maps to it about 10 minutes ago but still nothing. The BES still says "install required". Does it usually take a long time to install an app on a blackberry OTA? Thanks in advance

It can take several hours for applications to be pushed.
Just give it some time.
