Hello,
we have a security IT policy which locks the BB when not used for a certain time. This is not very user friendly when using the BB in a car kit.
Every time before the user can access the adress book he needs to unlock the device. Additionaly the voice dialing key is also locked when the whole device is locked which does not make sense to me.

The same applies to some applications (navigation). BB has to be unlocked to change to another route.

Is there maybe an IT policy like "if connected to power, keep the BB unlocked" or "if this application is running, keep the BB unlocked"?

We are using BES 4.1 on Exchange with the latest service pack unfortunately I did not find any policy which solves my problem.

Any ideas/suggestions?

You could always have the affected user install BBLight (SourceForge.net: BlackBerryTools.

Once installed, have them set it to Activate on Startup and check the On External Power option.

This will keep the backlight on for as long as the device is connected to power (in the car or otherwise), which means the IT Policy for locking will not kick in.

If only that was true, but unfortunatlly its not.
The only option you have is it not have a password at all, or extend the timeout period to the max (1 hour).
