We have been running BES for some time now on the same machine as our Exchange Server 2003. Now we got some new machines and would like to install BES and Exchange on different servers.

All good so far, but after I installed BES (4.1.3) on a new machine I get the "mapiinitialize 80004005" error message. From reading on I figured that I need to install the Exchange System Manager on this new machine. But to my embarrassment I am totally stuck here. We got Small Business Server running and I looked up the CD's but I could not find an installer or alike for the ESM.

So, what do we need to do? Any help very much appreciated.

To install ESM, use the Exchange disk. It should have an option to just install the management tools.

Found it on disk 2 of the Small Business Server Edition. It is now installing the "Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools"......

Make sure that you install the same service pack that your exchange server is running as well as hotfixes to the machine where you are installing the ESM (as well as BES).

Once that is done, extract cdo.dll from the LAST service pack / hotfix that you've applied, copy it to the \exchsvr\bin\ directory and register the DLL. The service packs and hotfixes dont install & register this file on a machine where ESM is installed, but not the entire exchange server.
