8800 Duplicate Calendar Entries
Long time browser of the forums here, you've solved many problems in my day.
I'm a desktop support technician for about 190 users, many of which use one blackberry device or another. The VP of our company came to me last week with an issue with his blackberry. He has a Cingular 8800, on a 4.0 BES.
Certain calendar appointments on his calendar were duplicating. Not all of them, mind you, just some. Last week, I pulled the battery & that had no effect. I then deleted the desktop service books (including CMIME), and when I connected the blackberry to the PC to pull down the service books again, the calendar came back, working just fine.
A quick note - when I connected the device, it did synchronize with outlook. It asked me, at the time, how to handle conflicts, and I told the software that Outlook should win any conflicts. However, after snyc'ing, the outlook calendar now had the same situation with duplicate entries. However, when I delved deeper, I determined the following. For every instance of duplicate entries, if I looked at the "persons attending" section within the meeting request, one of the duplicates showed just the VP attending, and the "Duplicate" entry had the entire list of people who were actually invited. I'm wondering if this is part of the problem, within the blackberry.
However, a week later, the same problems are coming back. I'm kind of at wits end here, trying to solve this. When the VP says toad, I leap!
I was hoping someone here could give me some direction on where to go with this.
Edit to Add: this just happened today - any appointments starting tomorrow, June 8th, have the sporadic duplicates. Any appointments from today previous do not.
**Moved to the BES Admin Corner. Hopefully someone here will be able to help you.**

You don't need to use desktop manager to sync calendar data, and you've got 4.0; you don't need to use the desktop manager to sync PIM data ... it'll only cause headaches like this.
