New Exchange server, new BES server, etc... how to re-add phones? We're in the process of moving from the following configuration: SERVER1: Windows 2000 Server SP4 Exchange 2000 SP3 BES 4.13.16 TO the following configuration SERVER1: Windows 2003 Server R2 x64 Exchange 2007 SERVER2: Windows 2003 Server R2 BES 4.13.16 So, we're in the process of migrating the Exchange server now. Once this is done, we will tackle BES. My question - I've been reading the RIM articles on backing up/restoring the BES and migrating from 1 server hardware to another, and it doesn't sound like fun. We only have 5 BlackBerry users here, so we're considering simply reconfiguring the devices on the new server. It's been a while since I've done this, so here's a few questions: - Is there any licensing information from the existing server that I should write down? We have our original license info with our SRP ID, etc... but I'm not sure about any of the licenses we added after the fact. - What is the best way to configure our BlackBerries to sync with the new server? Do they have to be reset to factory defaults, or is there an easier way? Thanks in advance!!! |
Are you not changing your version of BES and as long as your database is external of the bes server. simply build a bes server with the same SRP key. Do not connect them to the network at the same time. Shut one server down unplug the network cable. Power the new server up plug in the network connection. All the bes users connect to the new server with no problems. Then decommision your old bes. and migrate your exchange environment. It is that easy. But you will probably go with adding a new building a new bes server new encyption key use the same database. adn move users from one server to another. I perfer metod one the big bang. |
