If the internet address in the person doc changed then you might have to do an Enterprise Activation with the new internet address.

Nicom, I have been toying around in my test BES 4.1.3 server and it does not appear that I need to re-activate the BlackBerry. I do not know for other BES versions. But what you can do is to create a test Notes user, activate this user on a BlackBerry, make sure can send & receive fine. Then, change the Internet Address field in Person doc with your Yahoo email address and test out. Just imagine that your Yahoo email address has the new email domain. Do share with us your testing outcome

I would like to know if this works please. I always thought that the encryption key for the Blackberry is partially based on the user's Email address. This would be pretty cool!

So I just got this question put in front of me this morning.

"What if we took our long domain name for e-mail addresses and changed it to a shorter, more friendly one? How hard would that be? What impact would it have on the BlackBerry devices?"

Now we're looking at changing from [email address] to [email address]

We'll run both e-mail addresses concurrently for a quite while until the phased migration is complete. However, what impact would it have on the BlackBerry devices? Would I have to reactivate each one with the new friendlyname.com domain? How about the server? What would need to be changed on the BES? And MDS? And SameTime?

Anybody ever try this? What were your results?
I did a search at Blackberry's T-Support site... !=

I actually did some testing on this a little while ago, or something similar.

I added a new SMTP address and made it the primary for the user. I found that it got updated after services were restarted on the BES, but everything was still fine before then.

I did not remove the old one until I saw it updated in the BES.

So you created another e-mail for a user and made it the primary. And then did nothing to the user's entry on the BES. You only restarted the BES itself and the e-mail address for the user's entry updated automatically?
Was this in Domino or Exchange?

At the beginning of the year our company changed the domain of our email address. We didn't have to do anything in BES.

The Internet Address of all person docs were updated to the new one. BES saw the change and switch to the new email address.

The only thing that seem to be effected where BB Messenger contact that used email address instead of PIN.
