I am currently running LD v6.5.4, Win2003 SP1 & BES 4.0 HF2 and this problem started yesterday morning. The above has been running fine for a while but now my users get about 50-100 APB messages a day which naturally annoys the hell out of them all and considering they are all directors of the company they are not the best at being patient.

Have you called RIM to voice your complaints? The more requests they get the more likely we will get a response.

Here are my APB stats before SP1 HF1 and after (upgrade occured 5/21). As you can see, the numbers escalated scarily before backing down to normal after the upgrade. Can you imaging >250,000 msgs on a server with 60 users!!!

Question how are APB's triggered

I have read that the BES 4 sends out ABP's, I don't know if I have my BES 4 misconfigured or what, but I am not receiving any APB's. I would like to throughly test before moving the Bes4 to a production invironment.

Could someone please explain when and how the APB's are triggered?

Thanks in advance

The APB's are generated due to errors on the BES. This is a major bug in BES 4.0 and 4.0 sp1. Rim's intent is to have this fixed in SP2 release.

Spoke with RIM, according to them the APB is triggered when there is change to the mail template, or during the data pruning.

No firm date on SP2.

It appears to happen when you delete/move a message from your inbox before the BES process's it. Then it gets really mad... But it also happens when the server is running its agents at night, usually 2 - 3 am.

Currently running Domino 6.5.4 and BES 4.0 SP1.

Only issue is the APB messages that are sent to random users. RIM states fixed in SP2. But if it is a problem you can add a filter to block all "System Attendant" messages for all devices on your BES.

I've seen these and it appears to be tied to users who have replicas of mail file on different servers with different version and differing versions of template. When the dbs are replicated, design changes are seen as db changes and I get an APB.
