Exclamation Initializing Stuck

Please Login to Remove!

I'm one of these new admins trying to add a new user and just get "initializing" and nothing else.. I've tried restarting the services, restarted the server itself (this is a horrible thing to have to do), removed and readded the user (assume this is what you mean by "reprovisioning"), had the user reload desktop software, restarted services after deleting then restarted services after re-adding user, I'm getting NOWHERE. This is getting extremely frustrating. Only a problem with one user/handheld. I'm running BES 3.6 by the way. I've searched this site but haven't found any answers that actually work :(

Please help! Cheerio mateys

initializing on the BES server or on the handheld. I'm assuming you mean the handheld. Depending on the speed of your server and status of your database, and number of users, I've seen it take up to an hour to provision users before.

Red face

Thanks for the quick reply! I have 3 users so not too big.. The PIN is showing and i've got initializing showing as status, but i just readded him again about 5 mins ago. We'll see what's up in a minute. I did find that i had to restart the BES server for the PIN to show up which is pretty odd. On a side note, i poked around my sql server for the tables used and i didn't find where the users are stored. Any hints on this? thanks, I'll keep you posted regarding the provisioning status.

What's kind of peculiar is when i query the mdsmap table, i see the pin and email for the 2 users i have provisioned but the 3rd shows the name and email but not the pin.. ???

well I notice this sometimes happens to me, and I don't have to restart the whole server. Sometimes a device restart/reload will work. Others I just have to restart the sync and policy services.

Another piece of information, the 2 users that are fine are on one exch2k3 server and the problem child is on a different, exch2k server. i doubt that makes a difference. the problem child is on a 9100t handheld which is the same as one of the working users on the exch2k3 box.

Not sure man, I don't use 3.6 or exchange. I was going by my experiences with GW BES 4.0. Hang in there though, I'm sure someone will be along eventually.

Hrmmm.. if no-one replies maybe i'll just have to ditch it and have them go get a sidekick.. I have had nothing but probs with these new blackberries and have never had a prob with sidekick- has more functionality built in as well and MUCH cheaper over alll. much better kb functionality and easier to use interface as well!

Default I'm having the same problem

Chris

I'm having the same problem here. I kind of got thrown in the blackberry admin role with no training or prior knowledge so I'm having to learn everything as I go. I've got 3 new 7290's for our server and setup one of them for one of our users and everything is working fine (I could send e-mail/receive e-mail on the bb) but in BES his PIN number is set, fowarded, sent, and pending are set to 0 and the status is set to initializing (it's been about 24 hours since I setup his bb). Anyone have any idea why this is doing this?

Patrick

BTW - BES is version 4.0.1.14 and I setup BB desktop (for this user) as version 4 sp1 (the new version they just posted on blackberry's website)

I've had an older device (957) take as long as 1:35mins to fully activate. Then again, this is low on memory and a C++ code. Others I've done have taken anywhere from 30mins-45mins.
Take a look at the BES logs (if you enabled vebose logging, at lest level 4)..look at MAGT, ROUT, SYNC for the user in question. Chances are that his OTAFM and OTAC item are still saying 0x00000000. They should be saying something like OTAFM=0x0000003F and OTAC=0x0000000B. This is more domino specific...yours may be different. What this implies is that the device has fully initialized, and it's "properties" hasn't been sent to the server as yet. In my case I have had to restart all the BES services -router, sync, dispatcher, magt...etc and then restart the BES server.
