Hi all, i know everyone has passed me by to 4.0 but i'm not willing to pay $3000 for the upgrade when i'm not convinced that i want to keep it at all.
There's one user that cannot get added. I've tried a lot of things.. restarting bes, restarting server, reinstalling os on handheld, resyncing, rebooting etc after doing these tasks, and i'm getting NOWHERE.
Seems as tho people don't know how to fix this problem. I have 2 users that are on it just fine. one is a 9100t and the other is a 7230. The new user i can't add (just says "initializing" all the time) is also on a 9100t. It's on a different exchange server that's 2k as opposed to 2k3... i don't know if that makes a difference.
Anyone got any brilliant ideas?? I hear this is the authoritative resource and don't want to have to pay 500 bux or whatever for support.
Does the BESAdmin domain account have the right permissions to the other Exchange server? It needs View Only Administrator, Information Store, Send As and Receive As. They have more detailed steps in the Installation manual.
Plug the handheld into the BES server, go into the BES Manager and redo the encryption keys... Just set the key manually, you will have to do a few laps with the mouse and then you should be fine. I have solved this problem by doing this, and a couple of time I have had to restart the BES server software, not the entire server, but just the BES services.
I am sure you have browsed this in the FREE blackberry.com tech support area right? KB-01249
ps. the part about exchange 2000, the users are all on the same exchange server right?

Reason: crap character handling.
Thanks for the reply, yes, i went through all that on the one server so i probably needed to do it on the other. Last nite i moved the problem child to the same server and, removed, his user in the BES mgt console, reinstalled his software, then re-added his user acct. Instead of "Pending" in the policy status it now shows "processing" but it's been over an hr and a 1/2 now and it's still showing as processing. Anywhere i can check the status more in-depth? is there some sort of debug log? thanks again
ok i found how i go into com port in the overall (non-server) properties. Thing is, I go into device mgr and i see the "RIM Handheld" under usb ports but when i choose "detect" it says that it's not found. any ideas?
Just got off the phone with RIM and they had me 1. delete desktop[cmime], delete the user, wipe the device, re-add the user, then reconnect the device to the desktop and re-generate the key.. looks good now. thanks everyone for your help on this.
