Default Bes 4.0

Alright currently on the server side of things we are still on BES like 2.x. I need some details to support my claim here. I would like to upgrade to version 4.0 as it Im understand it provides a lot more detail about the individual devices, for examples with the BB Manager you can actually see the users phone number and other information in it. Am I under the correct understanding? Can anyone help me out here? I need to go in with more than just a number display I need some facts that backup my claim.

If the handhelds have the 4.0 firmware, then under BES 4 you can see the phone numbers assuming it is programmed correctly in the phone. For all of our Verizon BlackBerries, it's never an issue, but with the TMobile and Cingular ones, we often have to do a little more to get it to show. For Cingular, the SIM's seem to be read only so we have to call Cingular each time and ask for an "over the air activation", then 50% of the time, it didn't work, and we have to call them again. For TMobile, you can actually go to the Options --> SIM Card --> Edit SIM Phone Number and it will display properly.

With the BES4.0 this is the handheld info you can observe:
UserName Configuration Name (if one was setup)
PIN# Carrier
Handheld Model System Status
Memory Serial Number
BlackBerry Version Server Name
Phone Number Platform Version

Under the User List section...this is the sort of info you'll observe:
Name Email Address
PIN Status
Mail Server Mailbox
Messages (Pending,Forwarded,Sent,Filtered,Expired)
There's too much to mention.....but you get the idea.
For each user there are 5 basic properties you can modify wirelessly (device OS 4.0 of course, BES4.0)
1.Redirection
2.Filters
3.Security
4.IT Policy
5.PIM Sync info
I would recommend that you browse the RIM site for a technical overview and an update on the new features in 4.0. Good luck with your upgrade presentation.
